With our increasing diversity, interpreters and translators have never been more important. New migrants and refugees face many cultural and linguistic challenges in the Afghan community. The assistance of language professionals is critical to help overcome these barriers.
Our team of experienced and NAATI accredited interpreters provide assistance with communication needs in the community. Whether you need an interpreter for a court date, conference or meeting, or even one who specializes in engineering, our interpreters can help.
With over 20 professional interpreters in all Afghan languages and dialects, BCO’s interpreters have played a major role during the pandemic, especially since the arrival of refugees from Afghanistan. BCO provided 24/7 onsite and phone interpreting to CQV (Hotel Quarantine Victoria). Currently, supporting AMES with the resettlement of the new arrivals.
Bakhtar Community Organisation is committed to support newcomers to achieve their full potential and work with all people who have experienced vulnerability, including refugees, people seeking asylum and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, to build capacity and enable them to overcome inequality.
Our vision is to achieve a society that values the diversity of its people and actively provides support to ensure meaningful social and economic participation and to assist individuals and families reach their potential and integrate in to Australian society.
Through our partnership with charitable organisations, we have supported over 2000 new Afghan arrivals with culturally food packages, clothes and furniture.
Through our partnership with PRD legal, we aim to bridge the gap between the growing number of cultural and linguistically diverse Victorians and the law. This means that, in addition to the services that PRD Legal provides as personal injury lawyers, they will assist people of a culturally diverse background find the legal help they need, whatever that may be.
Through this partnership, we aim to connect people in need, struggling to understand a complex legal system and connect them with the knowledge and support them.
Bakhtar Community Organisation provides food relief support to vulnerable community members, especially those who are at high risk of homelessness. During the covid19 pandemic, Bakhtar supported over 600 families who were affected by covid19 pandemic with a six weeks supply of culturally appropriate food packages.
WDP (Work Development Permit)
Bakhtar Community Organisation is a proud sponsor of WDP, Fines Victoria. Through this program we are supporting families that are a victim of family violence, suffering from mental health, have a disability or is going through financial hardships to pay off their debt by undertaking activities at Bakhtar Community Organisation.
Bakhtar Community Organization’s employment pathways and trainings support not only the most vulnerable community member to find their way in to employment but also provides opportunities to student to enhance their skills and get experience in their field through their placements at Bakhtar Community Organisation.
Our team of experts and professionals provides ongoing information session about preparing resumes, addressing key selection criteria, and be prepared for the job interviews.
Our registration with NDIS is just in it’s final stages. This service will be available soon.
Through our partnership with Victorian government (Multicultural COVID Taskforce / DFFH),local councils, community organisations and businesses we have supported over 600 families with six weeks of cultural appropriate food packages. Our committed team has also delivered reading materials to our senior members of the community in their languages while they were practicing social distancing.
Our Bicultural team that comprises of four outstanding individual, providing constant support for the community members to get vaccinated. The support includes interpreting services, transportation to the vaccination sites and guidance on how to access credible resources and information.
Cultural Orientation Programs
Besides food relief, care packages and clothing to up to 2000 newly arrived families, Bakhtar runs regular orientation programs on a fortnightly basis to support the new arrived refugees to settle and integrate into Australian society.
